Natural Disaster Relief and Recovery Arrangements

Financial Assistance Extended

Further disaster assistance is being made available from Tuesday 12 June to support people, non-profit organisations and small businesses recovering from the extreme weather event on 10 and 11 May 2018.

The financial assistance will be available in the six municipalities that were significantly impacted - Clarence, Derwent Valley, Glenorchy, Hobart, Huon Valley and Kingborough - and provided through three grants:

Grants for individuals in need

This grant provides up to $5,000 to support individuals in urgent and genuine need of assistance. Grants may assist individuals who are ineligible for the previously announced financial assistance due to income and asset testing. Grants may be used to assist with clean-up and repair of principal places of residence and the repair or replacement of essential household items.

Grants for non-profit organisations in need

This grant provides up to $2,000 to non-profit organisations to meet short to medium-term recovery needs. Grants may be used to assist with clean-up and repair of premises and the repair or replacement of equipment.

Grants for small businesses in need

This grant provides up to $10,000 for small businesses to meet short to medium-term recovery needs. Grants may be used to assist with clean-up and repair of premises and the repair or replacement of equipment.

For information on this grant, please call Business Tasmania on 1800 440 026 (Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm).
